ENGLISH SUMMER CAMP IN TORGAU.

One week of last summer we stayed in Torgau, Germany and we liked that very much. This beautiful country greeted us as heartily as our pleasant hosts.

We were staying in a big, historical house that looked like from middle ages. It had a big yard where we ate, grilled and played hide and seek. The other inhabitants of the house were eight Polish girls which were the other foreign students there. The third group was of the Germans, who lived mostly in Torgau. It was 3 km far from our pension so they came to visit us in the evenings.

Every day we were taken to the town of Torgau Grammar School and the Youth Centre to work on our skills of a PHOTO, FILM and PRESENTING. All the lessons were held in ENGLISH LANGUAGE. The camp focused on medias and working with such devices was a precious experience for all of us. Not only did we take pictures and video-tape ourselves, but we learned different tricks and tips, for example The Stop Trick. There was also a history lesson of photograps and how to take the perfect picture using the golden ratio.

TORGAU is a beautiful medieval town on the river Elbe with a renaissance castle. Taking pictures and videos there was really exciting.

We were working in mixed groups. In each group there were students from different countries. We got to know Polish and German people, their culture and language. Most of the time we spoke English.

We tasted national meals too. Groups of students from each country had to cook their national meal one evening. We (the Czechs) cooked strawberry dumplings and potato pancakes. The Polish made Pirogi and the Germans Spätzles.

One day we visited the city Leipzig, its huge Monument to the Battle of Nations and the University. We were shown round some parts of the modern school and we had a lesson about new computer technologies at the faculty of Informatics.

On one very sunny day we sailed down the Elbe river and got sunburnt badly:-) But it was all worth it, because we made friends with the other foreign students and also among each other in the Czech group.

Therefore we would like to thank greatly to the town of Torgau, Znojmo, Strzegom and all of the devoted teachers for giving us this opportunity. Our only hope is to reunite these cities again next years on.

„stop trick“. Absolvovali jsme přednášku o historii fotografie a nechali si poradit, jak využít zlatého řezu k dosažení perfektní fotky.

Torgau je krásné starobylé město s renezančním zámkem. Poskytovalo nám spoustu možností k focení a natáčení.

My jsme vařili jahodové knedlíky a bramboráky a na oplátku byli pohoštěni polskými pirohy a německými spätzlemi.

Navštívili jsme i Lipsko, místní obrovský památník Bitvy národů a univerzitu.
